I offer two online classes at the present time. The first is a "master class," intended to offer one-on-one feedback for experienced writers venturing into novel writing. The revision class is for writers who have completed a manuscript and want to explore the process of rewriting. In addition, I will be a guest lecturer at the well-known Odyssey Summer Fantasy Workshop in 2006. In 2007, I will be offering a new class for writers who don't want to tackle a novel, but who want to improve their SF skills, or who are searching for an idea that will sustain a novel. Finally, Heinemann has published Conceiving the Heavens, which includes discussion of craft, art, and practical advice, plus writers' games and exercises.

Some Tips

• These classes require about 1000 words of writing per class week, and more if you can manage it. You'll get the most out of the classes if you can arrange your schedule so that you have the time you need to get that writing done.
• Exercises and comments will overlap. That is, you'll frequently receive the next week's assignment before you receive feedback on the previous week's work.
• To get the most out of the master classes, you need to have an idea that you're ready to start writing on. If you're trying to decide among several ideas, or if you aren't sure if you're ready to start writing, the journeyman class may be better for you.
